About The Townsend Firm                                                 

Bill Townsend began his Real Estate career in Central Florida, following a successful leadership career in the United States Air Force. Our founder retired from the USAF as a Lieutenant Colonel after 21 years of service. During this time, as an aircraft maintenance/logistics officer, he was stationed throughout the world from Saudi Arabia, to Germany and Vietnam.

In 1990 Bill began selling residential real estate in Orlando, Florida. After one year he became interested in becoming a FLORIDA STATE CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL APPRAISER. He completed all of the compulsory residential appraisal courses with the Appraisal Institute. Following his education, he was hired as an apprentice appraiser. Two years later, he tested for and successfully passed the Florida State Residential Appraiser certification exam. During his apprenticeship, Bill studied for and successfully passed the state boards as a Florida Licensed Real Estate Broker. In 1994, he founded The Townsend Firm, Inc., which initially specialized in residential appraising and residential property management. In 1997, The Townsend Firm withdrew from the property management facet of the business to concentrate on residential appraising. To this day, Orlando-area residential appraisals remain the company focus.

Bill was raised in Denver, Colorado, and graduated high school in Salt Lake City, Utah. His FORMAL EDUCATION includes a BS degree from the University of Utah in Business Administration with a major in economics (1968). While in the USAF, he received an MS degree in Business Management from Troy State University (1980). Our founder remains active in a number of associations and philanthropic organizations. His PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS include: National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers; National Association of Realtors; Greater Orlando Association of Realtors; Florida Association of Realtors; The Retired Officers Association; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion; and the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
